Stacey Small (email@example.com) is the main point of contact in the AU for all regular club training and non-BUCS fixture facility bookings.
Natalie Walker (firstname.lastname@example.org) is the main point of contact in the AU for all BUCS fixture facility bookings.
The following departments of the University are responsible for running the sports facilities on campus:
• Facilities Management – Outdoor grass and artificial pitches
• The Sports Development Centre (SDC) – Indoor facilities
All AU Club bookings requests must be made via the AU Office and there is no charge for regular training or fixture bookings. However, the budget the SDC receive from the University does not cover the running costs of the indoor sports facilities. Therefore, the SDC has to generate income from the sports facilities via the following methods:
• Partnerships with sport National Governing Bodies
• Memberships – 2 Gyms, the Pool & the Athletics Centre
• Hiring facilities to external sports clubs and users
• Hiring facilities on a casual basis to students, staff and other local users
The AU and SDC work closely to try and make sure that student activities take precedence during academic term time. However, there are inevitably instances throughout the year where it is necessary to cancel regular training sessions for some clubs. Where possible, replacement sessions are offered, but unfortunately this is not always possible.
The provision of regular training times is reviewed annually over the Summer Vacation. All requests need to be e-mailed to Stacey Small and where possible any changes requested by clubs will try to be accommodated. However, the general rule is that clubs will be given the amount of training time that they were during the previous academic season.
BUCS home matches are also scheduled into facilities over the Summer Vacation.
If your club competes in leagues or competitions other than BUCS, you must provide the AU with details of all the fixtures as soon as they are made available. Home matches will then be booked into facilities accordingly. If changes occur throughout the year, it is the club’s responsibility to inform the AU as soon as they are known.
